About this Event
How do health care professionals identify, address, and resolve ethical issues? If a patient and a doctor disagree about treatment because of different moral positions, what should be done? How do health care professionals negotiate changing laws that impact their ability to provide the best care? Join us for our first of a three-part series on medical ethics this semester.
This session will focus on learning what ethics are and how to engage with them. Whether you are planning a career in healthcare or interested in the topic be sure to attend this event where we hear from some of our own UTC faculty and engage in a discussion on public health, bioethics, and ethical frameworks. In this discussion, Dr. Welsh will outline some common elements of philosophical approaches to bioethical questions and present some of her own research regarding the ethics of vaccination.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Talia L. Welsh, Ph.D., UTAA Professor, UC Foundation Professor of Philosophy, Department Head of Philosophy & Religion, Director of Integrated Studies, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
