Dan Earl became the 22nd head coach of the Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team in March 2022. Prior to joining UTC, Earl spent seven years as head coach at VMI, where he earned SoCon Coach of the Year honors in 2021. In his first season with the Mocs, Earl led the team to a 18-17 record and a Southern Conference Tournament runner-up finish. The following season (2023-24), Chattanooga posted a 21-12 record, including a third-place finish in SoCon play. Under Earl’s leadership, the Mocs achieved notable success, setting school records for three-pointers and boasting standout players like Jake Stephens, who became a program legend.

Earl’s coaching career also includes assistant coaching roles at Penn State and Navy, where he played a key part in their success, including helping lead Penn State to an NCAA Tournament berth. Earl, a former Penn State player, has deep basketball roots, with both his father and brother having notable basketball careers. He holds degrees in marketing and business logistics from Penn State. Earl is married to Sheila, and they have two daughters, Mila and Alyssa.

We will be hearing from head coach Dan Earl followed by a tour of the new additions to McKenzie Arena. Be prepared with great questions! Please arrive at the Area no later than 4pm so we can all enter together.
