Please join us in Grote 411 on Friday, September 19 at 3:30 pm for department seminar.  This week, our new assistant professor of biochemistry, Dr. Samuel David, will be presenting. 

Title: (i) Total Synthesis of Small Natural Products and (ii) Developing new Organic Chemistry Labs (iii) The Discovery of a New Apoptosis Pathway and (iv) Metabolic Disorder in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

Abstract: The total novel synthesis of aspernigrin, a newly discovered natural product with medicinal value will be attempted.  A new lab for the organic curriculum will be attempted.  The involvement of Serum and Glucocorticoid inducible kinase in apoptosis will be evaluated and the role of fumarse hydratase in ALS will be evaluated.
