Trailer for "Amar Akbar Anthony"
Description:
This blockbuster of a film signifies India's religious diversity just in its title: the names of the main characters Amar (Hindu), Akbar (Muslim), and Anthony (Christian) symbolize India's major religions. As the title suggests, the film's story follows three brothers separated at birth who eventually find each other and join forces to fight against injustice. Kishen Lal is a a driver and works for a smuggler named Robert. He is on the run from the police and leaves his three sons in a park. All of them are raised separately - the eldest becomes a Hindu police officer, the youngest becomes a Muslim tailor and the middle son becomes a Christian troublemaker. Will they be united again? There are classic villains and heroes and most importantly, songs ("Purah hai", "My Name is Anthony Gonsalves"). Each brother has their own girlfriend, sidekick, and plot line while they seek to defeat the criminal Robert (a classic Hindi villain who is depicted as Anglo-Indian). This film also introduces us to Amitabh Bachchan, one of the most prolific actors in Hindi cinema.
